When Your Body betrays You-how to get through a health crisis.

I’m having a health crisis. It’s scary and I am having trouble figuring out exactly what’s happening. In the past I took my health for granted as I floated through life with no serious health concerns.

I won’t go into all of the dirty details except to say that i no longer take simple things like the ability to walk for granted. Energy, mobility and flexibility are a challenge for me at the moment. I’m still teaching and working with others as well as my personal healing practice. Through this I am learning a few things that I want to pass on.

This personal crisis has intensified my ability to connect to others, it’s actually brought me to life in a way (as weird as that may sound.)

NEVER take your health for granted. Celebrate your body regardless, even if you feel big and frumpy, even if you lack energy and drive or are dealing with symptoms that have no traditional diagnosis.

Realize that you are going through this for a reason. The divine flow is leading you- and realize that you can change it by getting the message your body is telling you. My reason is that I’m meant to experience the things others have gone through in order to help them through. My life path is to be the beacon and if my life was “perfect” and without issues I would not understand the plight of others.

Explore your past traumas whether they are physical or emotional. This can be the death of a loved one, a move, any big change that you may not have chosen for yourself, childhood wounds, sexual abuse, abuse of any kind, betrayals and the list is endless. Have you explored these things?

They can go dormant inside of you but until they have their moment in the light they will affect you in deep ways and sometimes come out in the form of crisis and illness.

Ask yourself what you need to grieve. Grief is complex but it is your right and responsibility (to yourself and the world) to grieve. Grief can lead to major personal breakthroughs. Check out The Smell Of Rain On Dust by Martín Prechtel. He shares crucial knowledge about grief and its relationship with praise and how it is our sacred responsibility.

I am currently grieving my ability to get around physically as I used to, I am experiencing the beauty of accepting who I am and where I am in my own process.

I found support beyond traditional medicine that seeks answers and if there is no perceivable solution/named diagnosis they insist that your issue is non existent and all in your mind.

Now I relish in the questions and not the labels and answers. Sometimes we are meant to ride the crest of not knowing.

Art helps. I’ve been getting into watercolors/mixed media and am working on an art journal where there are layers, many layers of medium.

I wish the best for you. I’m here for you. Being a beacon even through my own challenges. My surrender to this experience has changed me inside and out. I switched from self-pity to empowerment.
