Do you happily celebrate your body with regular movement?
Do you honor your body through the food you choose to eat?
Do you see your body as the sacred vehicle that holds you up?
Are you able to look in the mirror without judging yourself?
’ve been there! Wanting to hide beneath loose, black clothing. Wanting to stay home because nothing fits… Nothing looks good. It’s awful, and even if you know all of the advice about accepting your body as it is and dressing in clothes that show it off, accepting all of you, even the extra folds and bulges,) nothing helps you feel beautiful!
I know by the time November comes around have planners in my cart everywhere!! I'm on all of the mailing lists and targeted ads follow me around online. They've got my number! It's almost time for us to set our intentions, plan a theme for our year, kiss the old year goodbye and ORDER the dang planners.
Do you say grace or express appreciation for your food? Do you experience your food as sacred? Do you connect your meal times with social time with your family or friends? How are you connected with the food you take in to your body? Do you eat standing up as you do other things? Do you eat while you are both in front of the TV as well as checking your phone? Have you ever eaten while you were arguing? Do you throw a frozen meal into the microwave?
It’s all about shifting the negative judgments you hold over your body into self-acceptance and self-love. Once you are able to crack through those feelings of self-loathing and shame, you will WANT to feed yourself food that nourishes you! Releasing weight and normalizing your body size is a natural progression. On the other side of “dieting” lies freedom. Sometimes dieting is a comfort zone and the idea of letting up on the rules is daunting. Once you let up on all of your food “rules” (barring allergies and other necessities) you have the opportunity to find your OWN natural guidelines.
Cleansing requires a lot of motivation in order to achieve your goal as it might force you to alter your plans according to the times of cleansing or detoxification. In order to make sure that your desire to achieve your goal and your motivation to cleanse you should follow the steps mentioned below in order to overcome all the challenges that you might face:
How do you want to live your life?
With love for all sentient beings? taking personal responsibility? Do you believe in destiny? creativity? that passion is all you need? That passion isn’t the only factor and you need more? Structure? Spontaneous action? One mate for life? Detachment? You get the idea?
Do you need creative inspiration and new recipe ideas? So do I! I’m always looking for new ideas and also I experience food as art and the preparation of food is a creative act.
Food blogs are a treasure trove of creative food ideas and instructions in how to prepare them including tips and beautiful images.
There are a few that I go to over and over to either find that recipe that my family loved and other times I print them out to add to my collection… Or bookmark them to pull up later.
You can affect the world through your cooking. You can make magic, weave spells, all through food. There is much more to nutrition, eating and wellness than just the physical parts you can see, there is an entire Universe animating the foods.
Feeding yourself and your family can be more than just an obligation. It can be more than the physical mixing of the ingredients and the nutrition profile. Those things are important and creating balanced meals will nurture your physical bodies. Food will also nourish your soul, and you can add so much to the meals you create. How?
Remaining open to the possibilities isn’t always easy. I know that. It’s easy to feel trapped and immovable by your circumstances. I want to assure you that change IS possible, you are able to change your situation by changing your actions in any area of your life.
Last week my grocery list was a quarter what it had been in the past. My pantry is well stocked and all I needed were fresh veggies and odds and ends. Sure, it CAN be expensive and confusing to plan out a healthy plant-based diet, but it doesn't have to be. Once you put a little effort in and planning and preparation, you'll be pleasantly surprised. Your big "pantry-stocking" trip to market will run more expensive, but that's only one time. You'll be re-stocking as needed but not all at once again.
Sleep is essential for our well-being. As adults, it’s recommended we get at least eight hours sleep per night, and if we don’t, we’re likely to feel less productive the next day.
One technique I’ve been using with great results for better sleep is meditation. This surprised me, as a lot of meditation guides and books state never to meditate before bed, as it might perk you up and make falling asleep more difficult...
So many people are becoming more conscious of how dairy affects the way they feel. There are many points people are becoming more conscious of about dairy. Dairy is high in sugars. Casein (the main protein found in dairy) can be an irritant to the digestive system. It’s common to be lactose-sensitive or intolerant, many people experience thickened mucous leading to congestion. Dairy is not the be all-end all of calcium and strong bones. It is highly acidic. Our bodies are happiest with a neutral ph balance between acid and alkaline. Not too extreme one way or the other. Dairy and most other animal products are acid producing, which makes the body draw from its alkaline reserves of calcium, magnesium and potassium to restore balance.
I have one question: How can you love yourself and become the best that you can be if you're caught up in feeling "ugly" and not able to walk upright and confident?
I know when I have felt this way and expressed it out loud I have been told everything from “It’s the inner that matters, it doesn’t matter how you are on the outside.” to “you are not ugly, that is silly!” or, “You are not ugly, you are beautiful!” The latter being the nicer thing. Each statement has one thing in common...
Do you suffer from depression? I do, and I tell you, it can be a bitch! I’m not talking about having a “bad day” and situational depression, which we all have occasionally. I am talking about when the deep, dark cloud that follows you wherever you go and renders you useless, fatigued, low, and not caring about anything enough to take action.
